With a population of over 1.6 million people, Novosibirsk confidently ranks third in terms of population in the country and secretly holds the title of the capital of Siberia. It is the administrative center of the Novosibirsk Region and the Siberian Federal District, a city where business and scientific life is booming: large universities, advanced research institutes and innovative start-ups are concentrated here. Novosibirsk has entered the Guinness Book of World Records as the fastest growing city with a population of one million in the world. The Novosibirsk Opera and Ballet Theater (NOVAT) is not only the largest theater in Russia, but also one of the most significant in the world. Its monumental dome with a diameter of 60 meters is a unique solid concrete structure without external supports, a real miracle of engineering.

Novosibirsk is home to the longest indoor subway bridge in the world, stretching across the mighty Ob River. Its length is 2,145 meters. This bridge connects the Studencheskaya and Rechnoy Vokzal stations and is not only an important transport artery, but also one of the business cards of the city.

Novosibirsk Zoo named after R.A. Shilo is famous not only for its size and variety of species. This is one of the few places on the planet where you can see a tiger, an amazing hybrid of a father lion and a mother tigress. The zoo is also actively involved in conservation programs for rare and endangered species.

Novosibirsk has its own "sea"! This is how locals lovingly call the Ob reservoir, created during the construction of the Novosibirsk hydroelectric power station. This huge artificial body of water is so large that its shores really have a sea–like expanse, especially in windy weather, and its beaches are a popular summer vacation destination.
